The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is an accreditation scheme that aims to improve fleet activity throughout the UK. FORS accredits good practice and provides recognition and quality assurance when tendering for new business.

Operating Licence Awareness Training (OLAT)

This one-day course is designed for directors, partners, sole traders and people with restricted Operator Licence responsibilities to provide an overview of their Operator Licence requirements, and to re-affirm their undertakings provided to the Traffic Commissioner through their O Licence application.

This course may be a conditional requirement deemed by a Traffic Commissioner at a public inquiry for the continued compliance of a restricted operator licence. The course is IoTA approved and complies with the expectations of the Traffic Commissioners.

Course content:

  • Operator Licensing – Application; Conditions; Notifiable Changes; Legal Responsibilities
  • Safe Loading of Vehicles – including Load Restraint, calculation of payload and safe load distribution
  • Weights and Dimensions of Vehicles
  • Drivers Hours – EU drivers hours and the Road Transport Working Time Directive; Drivers Hours Records for Analogue and Digital Tachographs; Working Time Directive for non-driving personnel; Planning Safe Overnight Parking
  • Driver Licensing
  • Speed Limits
  • Planned Preventive Maintenance – including Drivers’ Defect Reporting; Enforcement
  • Operational Security
  • Operator Compliance Risk Scores (OCRS)

An abbreviated OLAT course is also available as a 3.5-hour unit as per the institute matrix of training modules for Driver CPC. This is designed to inform drivers and junior staff of their role in Operator Licensing Compliance.

Please note the abbreviated 3.5-hour unit is not acceptable to the Traffic Commissioners as an OLAT course.

Transport Manager Refresher Course

Transport Manager Refresher Course

We conduct an IoTA-approved Transport Manager Refresher course. This is a two-day training programme, for currently qualified transport managers.

This course is designed to enable transport managers to become aware of legislative changes that have occurred since their initial CPC certification. The TMR course is often a conditional requirement of companies facing Traffic Commissioner Public Inquiries and are intended to provide opportunities to develop policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.

This is a detailed and more legislatively focused course intended to provide clarification of areas where operators fall short of compliance.

Transport Managers CPC Training

Course content:

This OCR qualification consists of two modules, and is designed to be compliant with the CPC legal requirements demanded of transport managers.

  • Unit R1 – Core, 60 multiple choice questions in 2 hours with 70% pass mark
  • Unit R2 – Case Study, 5 to 8 questions answered long hand in 2 hour 15 minutes – pass 50% pass mark (exam open book).

The final day of the course coincides with the nationally held OCR board examinations. All examinations are taken quarterly in March, June, September and December, with a closing date for entries of four weeks prior to the exam date, and an approximate wait of 8 weeks for the results to be published.

These are all 3½ hour modules. Each can be tailored to enhance applicability for your workplace requirements. Our courses last 7 hours, and consist of two modules.

We also provide a 7-hour DCPC-approved, Emergency First Aid at Work & The Safe Use of a AED (DeFib) machine course. This qualifies drivers in Emergency First Aid, with an additional, separate certification.

Course aims

The course is designed to equip first aiders with the skills to undertake first aid if someone becomes ill or injured in the workplace.

Successful candidates will be awarded a First Aid at Work qualification. Whilst HSE recommend all workplace first aiders receive annual refreshers, this qualification is valid for three years, and certificated through WorkSafe Training Systems.

Who’s It For?

First Aid at Work is a qualification for those working in medium and high-risk environments (warehousing, transport, rail etc.).

Our CPR/AED Certification courses follow the Resuscitation Council UK guidelines and can help you save a life when every second counts.

Course Content:
